Lukla to Namche

A very peaceful sleep in Monjo last night. Very hearty breakfast as usual, then we were trekking by 8am. I love this part of the trail as it meanders through small hamlets, across side streams and over swing bridges till we reach the last swing bridge that starts the long haul up to Namche. With our slow pace we hope it will help propel us up Namche hill, a 2 hour long steep elevation.

We take it nice and slowly, the pace is key to proper elevation gain, stopping from time to time to drink water and taken in the mountain scenery. By 3pm, we are all at the kalapathar Lodge in Namche Bazaar relishing the thought of good food and a pleasant rest.

Because we have ascended 800m in one day it is essential that we spend two nights at this elevation. An active rest day we call it. Hiking higher tomorrow coming down to enjoy the wonderful city of Namche Bazzar. Can’t think of a nicer place to spend a couple of days, taking in the mountain views. Glad to be here.
